I really like the Kim Harrison Halllows Series. Also the Women Of The Otherworld by Kelly Armstrong. Another good one with more realistic strong female characters is the Zodiac series with Vicki Pettersson. Oh, and Sookie in the Charlaine Harris series isn't ugly, and she's not annoying either, but the supernaturals do all love her. But at least she's supposed to be hot, so it makes more sense. OH and I'm reading Under Witch Moon by Maria E. Schneider and it's pretty good, so far with a very likeable, and realistic relationship evolving and a female main who's not annoying but very down to earth and normal.

Ooooh, gorgeous! Angels are real, but they're not exactly 'angelic'. This book is more a fantasy (sf?) book (hence, extremely well written too) - wasn't marketed as ROM, but oooh, the love stories that are at the heart of each of these books are so exquisite.
