I am new in the arena of SACD or DVD-A. I am considering purchasing Both the Immersion version of the Pink Floyd classic Dark Side of the Moon and a SACD version. Is this a waste of my hard earned 'MONEY'?
= no pun intended. This is a serious question. As I do have all the right equipment now in place to playback the SACD. My main interest is in a very high quality 'multi-channel' playback. Not to mention that the upgrade equipment should be installed prior to the release of the Immersion version of this classic album. I would think that Disc 5 of the Immersion set would eliminate the need for the separate SACD.

Awesome the amount of outstanding help I have received. Now the wait is on to get home from work - at lunch I did get a copy of Dark Side on SACD at the local store. My next / new question is, what setings is best for listening.
I am using a Yamaha RX-V3900 AVR. Paired with a Sony Blu-Ray / SACD and Klipsch speakers - WF35 Home Theater System. I will be upgrading to a Yamaha Aventage RX-3010, Yamaha BD-A1010 Blu-Ray / SACD player and a HSU VTF-15H Subwoofer.
All the new equipment is expected to be in house next week. Untill than what is the best setting on the RX-V3900 to enjoy this Dark Side night??? I am looking forward to sitting in the sweet spot and enjoy immensely - any suggestions?? Again Thank you for all the help! I enjoy the mix on the quad version, mixed by Alan Parsons, better than the Guthrie mix which I feel is too polite most of time. Btw 640kbps is NOT high resolution audio, at least in the technical sense when compared to PCM. That is because the 640kbps, and the 448kbps version, are both Dolby Digital which is a lossy format. Btw based on what I have read elsewhere some older receivers cannot decode the 640 version so I am sure that is why the 448 version was also included. I do not understand why EMI did this!
